The Houdini music video is a cinematic exploration of disappearance and emotional tension — a subtle push and pull between two beings. Built around themes of reflection and duality, the film follows Dua Lipa as she moves through mirrored spaces, oscillating between presence and absence.
The project came together in a remarkably spontaneous way. While Romain Gavras was developing the artistic direction of Dua Lipa’s album, he reached out to initiate the collaboration. Within just one week, the video was conceived and brought to life. Shot at The English National Ballet’s Mulryan Centre for Dance, the film adopts a minimalist visual language, allowing movement and performance to take center stage.
The choreography, created by Charm La’Donna and Sharon June, plays a central role in shaping the narrative and physical tension of the piece.
Through its stripped-back aesthetic and precise choreography, Houdini highlights Dua Lipa’s magnetic presence and artistic precision, revealing her as both performer and storyteller.
